Happy 1st Birthday Nash Potato!

Nash turned one on December 27th, I can't believe how much he has changed just within one year!  He is our pride and joy and we're so lucky to have him. We had Kyle's family, my family, and Corinna and Jordan over to celebrate and watch him open presents and get into his chocolate cake. He was really shy that everybody was watching him eat his cake but that didn't stop him from getting his hands dirty and Kyle's ;) We love you Nash and Happy Birthday!

Our getaway to D.C and Maryland

This little vacation was exactly what I needed right now :) Just to be able to spend some time as a couple before our lives get more chaotic when there's two little ones at home!

Day 1
The first day we went and visited the Washington D.C temple and did a session there. It was such a beautiful temple and the inside was so unique. That night we just walked around and looked at the lights around the temple. Let me tell you.. I've never experienced such crazy roads and all I have to say is thank goodness for the GPS that we rented. Also a guy almost robbed us the first night, he asked Kyle if he had any cash and he said no, as we walk up to the store to get some food we look back and the guy is looking in our car (it was locked). When we came back the guy came running around the corner towards our car, luckily we were able to jump in our car and get out of there! That was my first experience with almost being robbed.

Day 2
The second day we visited the Battle of Manassas National Memorial (this was the first official battle of the Civil War). It was sweet to actually walk on the battle field with all of the canons in place how they would have been during that time. We also saw the big statue of "Stonewall Jackson", Kyle thought that was pretty awesome :) After that we took a drive down to the Mount Vernon Estate (George Washington's house and property) he owned 8,000 acres which his house was built on and the mansion was beautiful inside! My favorite room was the dining area, with the tall vaulted ceilings and the woodwork and craftsmanship was very detailed on the fireplace, ceiling, and walls. Also the walls were a rich green color (which back then it was very expensive to have colored walls because they used copper to make the color). In addition to the mansion there were 17 other buildings made for servants quarters, blacksmith shop, and other neat things. We also saw George Washington's tomb and the slave memorial. Afterwards we drove to Old Town Alexandria, they have the cutest downtown with fun little shops to checkout and such a charming feel to the area. We went on our dinner cruise there where we toured the Potomac River and overlooked Washington D.C at night, I loved it! We got to dress up nice, ate a yummy 4 course meal as we enjoyed the scenery, Kyle ordered prime rib and I ordered salmon for our main course, there was live music (which the piano guy got really into the music, which was fun to watch), and they had a ballroom inside for dancing(I loved that :). It was funny because a guy that was dancing with a girl threw her up and she smacked her head into the ceiling, I know that sounds mean of us but we were laughing a lot.

Day 3
After we went to sacrament meeting at 9 am we went to go check out all the sights in D.C. Pretty much once we got into D.C we were walking the rest of the day because we rode the transit into town. It was definitely a cold day, but it was neat to see all the historical monuments. There's SO much to see and do in D.C so we mainly wanted to see the  major monuments. We went to the capital and there was a humongous 60 foot christmas tree that was chopped down from Stanislaus National Forest which was right in front of the capital. We visited the Museum of American History which is part of the Smithsonian which displayed how the lives were for Americans in the beginning when our country was still new and also we saw the area for Entertainment, Sports, and Music, I think the coolest thing I saw in that area was Dorothy's original ruby slippers from the "Wizard of Oz." We went by the White House, which they were having a christmas program outside the gates of the White House, they had a christmas tree for every state and had ornaments that were made  from children from each individual state. Arizona's tree had pretty and colorful ornaments and Utah's ornaments were supposed to look like snowglobes (I have to admit that Arizona's looked better ;) We saw the Washington memorial, the Lincoln Memorial with the statue of Abraham Lincoln in the big chair (that was my favorite), the World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial where we found Kyle's Uncle's name (Leslie Walker) on the wall of those who were killed from the war, and lastly we saw the Korean War Memorial (this one was really neat, they had statues of soldiers in capes and a wall with faces of soldiers etched in it). By the end of the day we felt like our feet were going to fall off from all the walking. Kyle really wanted to get a hot dog right from the stand, so that was the last thing we did before getting on the transit to go back to our hotel. For dinner we went to Red Lobster, which we'd never been there before, we got the crab legs that were freshly caught that day, Yummy!! I have to say they have excellent sea food in D.C :)

Day 4
Travel Day. We had our last complimentary breakfast at our hotel and headed for the airport. Our flight was at 1130 am and we arrived back in SLC at about 5 pm. Altogether, it was a wonderful trip! We were both missing Nash a lot, especially Kyle because it had been a week since he'd seen him so it was so good to see the little guy when we went to Camille and Jay's house. We spent the night at their place and Camille told us how Nash was during our trip. Nash loved playing with his cousins and Camille and Jay were so sweet to watch him for us!

Maryland/ D.C here we come!

So Kyle last week was told last minute that he needed to go to Maryland this week for his work :( I was really upset when I heard the news because I feel like he's already super busy with work and cabinets that I never see him (including little Nash). But then Kyle said that we should make a trip out of it and so Im flying in this coming Thursday!! His flight left in the morning this past Sunday so it's been hard for me to sleep at night by myself so It'll be good once Im down there. Im super excited, we'll mostly be seeing Washington D.C and there's SO much to see there. This will be a good get away before the next baby comes. Kyle's sister Camille is such a sweetie and will be watching Nash while we're gone, she has two girls Addie and Brinlee (she's pretty much Nash's age) so that'll be good for him to play with them! I bet by the time we get back he will be walking. Just this past week he took 6 steps all by himself, Im so proud of our little Nashy :)

Temple Square

We went to temple square this past weekend with Camille, Jay and their cute little girls. They just moved from Phoenix up to Layton in November and it's good to have part of Kyle's family nearby! The lights were beautiful and there were choirs singing everywhere you went. I keep saying that I want Nash to start walking but then I changed my mind when I saw Camille and Jay having to deal with Addie and Brinlee running around everywhere ;) but altogether it was a lot of fun. It's funny because everytime I try and get someone to take our picture that we don't know I always have to choose the worst people that don't know how to work a camera lol The first attempt was a lady that kept pushing the on and off button and so we gave up on that. We stopped for a little bit looking at the temple and then a guy says (as he's looking at me), "I could get a picture with the temple in the background." So I said, "thanks, that would be great!" then he gets off the phone and says, "Oh... I guess I could take a picture for you." Oh gosh, I just have the best luck sometimes. Everyone was laughing for a while, as you can tell in the group picture!

Its a. . .?

So originally Kyle and I weren't going to find out the sex of our baby... right up until a day before the ultrasound. It's funny because at first I was all for the surprise thing, but I think secretly I really wanted it to be a girl (I pretty much was convinced that it was a girl). I asked Kyle if he was still not wanting to find out at the ultrasound and he could tell that I was changing my mind about finding out. So we found out!

BOY!

Im not going to lie, I shed a few tears when I found out but now that I think of it Nash will have so much fun with another little buddy around the house who he can do boy stuff with. Growing up I loved having  Jana right next in line and we ended up being best friends (eventually ;) I am currently 22 weeks and feeling good! The first trimester was way worse this time than the first time around being pregnant. The first time I would just feel nasious but nothing too bad. This time I would throw up atleast once a day (usually right in the morning and sometimes at night) but hey I can't complain some people have it a lot worse. Luckily I started feeling better at about 16 weeks!

Welcome Home Jared!

Last week we drove down to sunny (or should I say scorching) Arizona, it was at about 115 degrees during the day! Besides the heat though it was a good trip. Jared just got back from the Ghana Cape Coast, Africa mission. I don't think he's used to all the white people just yet ;) It was good to hear about his mission and he brought tons of cool things from Africa. We each got a scripture case and some wood carvings of little elephants, thanks Jared. Probably the biggest surprise for me on the trip was finding out that I was pregnant the last day we were there! Yea.. was not expecting that at all. Camille, Jay, Kyle, and I went to do some sealings at the temple and in the middle of it I was about to pass out so the temple worker asked, "Are you pregnant because a lot of pregnant women do that here." I told him no and kind of laughed, guess I shouldn't have assumed. I guess I was a little more emotional than usual that trip (ok a LOT more emotional), that was another sign that I was pregnant. Finally Des and Camille convinced me to go buy a pregnancy test. Nash and the baby will only be 16 months apart! The crazy part is that I was planning on being pregnant next summer but looks like it came a year early.

Cabin Trip!

We left for a little get away for a couple days up to the grandparents cabin in Soldier Creek. It was nice just to relax and have fun with family and friends. Sunday night we went up with Corinna and Jordan, Jana and Chris, and Nicole. We played "Rate the Mate" Lol my Aunt Lottie told us to take it up there and play it, its pretty much just like the Newlywed Game. Kyle and I didn't do too hot on some of the questions. I think since I was frustrated with both of us not being able to answer some of the questions my emotions were a little on edge. One question asked "If your spouse would be any type of cartoon character who would they be?" I like cats so I wrote down that I would be Cat woman, when Kyle said that he thought I would be Minnie Mouse that was the last straw for me... I don't know why I started crying but I did. The funny part was right after that Jordan wrote down that Corinna would be Minnie Mouse as well (she took it way better than I did, good for you Corinna)! The emotions were high in that game, but surprisingly I learned a lot of things that I didn't realize about Kyle and I. Monday Morning the rest of the family came: Dad, Mom, Michelle, and Bryce. The next couple days we played the Candy Bar Game (cabin tradition), played pool, went fishing (only caught seaweed), and just relaxed. It had been a while since we'd  taken a picture of Kyle, Nash, and I so we all went out and took some pictures (Thanks Jan Jan :) Everything was fun besides the fact that Nash wouldn't go to sleep and poor Kyle was up with him till about 2 am. The joys of parenthood! But overall it was a good trip.

Splish Splash!

Nash has really liked the water lately! Now when he takes a bath he can't stop rolling around and putting his mouth in the water. It's funny but kind of scary because he swallows too much, he's just really hard to contain sometimes. This past week while Kyle was camping with the young men Nash and I went to Seven Peaks with Corinna, Jordan, Corinna's sister, brother-in-law, and their little daughter. It was fun and Nash loved being in the water. At first he was kind of lazy and didn't want to do anything but eventually he was kicking and throwing his arms in the water, he was ready to swim! I still haven't worked up enough courage to go on the orange and blue slide this summer but I've gone on all the other rides.

4th of July in LaPoint

It was definitely an eventful 4th of July weekend for the Wright family! On Saturday we went to a family reunion from the Walker's side of the family. It was down in Altamont (inbetween Roosevelt and Vernal) and they reserved a cabin with a big pond and a big area to play and have fun. We showed up late and I guess we missed out on a big water fight and the raffle drawings but we still had fun in the kayaks and hanging out with family. Everyone was trying to knock everybody off their kayaks (well mostly just Kyle ;) Also that day some of us went boating. Win got some good air while he was wakeboarding. It was Kyle's first time wakeboarding and he was a pro! He got up the first time and was going over the wakes and stayed on really good. It was my second attempt at wakeboarding (the first time I tried was probably five years ago and I barely got up). Surprisingly I got up real easy this time and stayed on for a while.
Sunday we went on a tour of all the dams around that area. It was awesome! Because of all the flooding and all the water in the mountains the lakes, rivers, and dams were raging full. You could just feel the power and force standing next to the water fall, it was definitely a cool experience. We got to Lapoint after seeing the first dam. Of course we had our usual games of Rook, and I must say I'm getting a lot better at it.
On the 4th of July we went to the LaPoint parade. It's definitely the smallest parade I've ever been to but they throw out tons of candy! I swear I had more candy in my bag then at Halloween. Afterwards they had a raffle giveway and a little program, we put in some raffle tickets for the quilt but didn't get it. The most eventful part of the day was lighting off fireworks. Kyle and I bought a couple fireworks that go in the air and a bunch of little ones. The craziest part happened when one of the big fireworks tipped over as it was going off! Kyle, Win, and Will took off in all different directions (I've never seen people move so fast). Nash and I were in the Rhino and got front row seats to all the craziness. The fireworks were blowing up everywhere, then one shot underneath Grandpa Walker's chair and everyone scattered except him. The firework blew up under his chair and he had the most shocked face, it was hilarious! Everybody couldn't stop laughing. Needless to say it was an eventful 4th of July.

Michelle's Graduated!!

Crazy, my little sister (well I guess not so little anymore) is graduated from High School and ready to face the world! The day of her graduation was a really pretty, sunny day. Their graduation was out on the Salem Hills High school football field and it was a good graduation :) Michelle graduated with High Honors, Way to go Michelle! Im so proud of you sis and Im glad we could be there to support you on your big day.
